Born
and raised in the town of Slanic-Moldova,
this
25 year old Romanian artist is fast becoming
a noted figure in the world of handpainted eggs.
The
traditional art of egg-painting
was taught to Bogdan as a teenager by his cousin, Elena,
who learned the art from her mother, and so on.
Bogdan produces his work in series, each consisting of 12 eggs.
With each series, he takes the art to new levels through
his wonderfully intricate freeflowing geometric designs.
Also, by substituting the
ostrich egg over the
traditional smaller bird egg as
his canvas,
Bogdan brings a new level of excitement
to a 300 year old art which, he tells us, would be lost from
Romania forever if not for the few remaining
artists in his country who carry on the art.
The GALLERY PAGE shows each of the eggs
from Bogdan's most recent series.
Bogdan recently moved to Bucharest, the
capital city of Romania,
where he now lives with his girlfriend, Claudia,
but returns to his hometown of Slanic-Moldova
to do his art.
