BRIEF HISTORY (NOTE: Historical info about the Manley Co. is difficult to find. Any info that could be shared would be greatly appreciated by many. Please let me know if you have any info to add to this very brief history) The Manley Company was founded in 1923, in Kansas City, Missouri, by two entrepreneurs, Charles T. Manley and Julian R. Burch, who began manufacturing and selling popcorn poppers. (I was contacted by a Manley owner who informed me that his M-49 had a plate which showed the date of manufacture as 1920, so we know now that the Manley Company was founded during or prior to 1920) The Manley Company soon became one of the leading providers of popcorn poppers and popcorn supplies to theaters and candy counters worldwide. By the 1950's Manley offered a full line of snack food processing equipment for the production of popcorn, caramel corn, extruded snacks and corn products. |
